Bel Air, Md. – Harford softball claimed their first victory of 2019, defeating the Corning Red Barons, 9-5, in Sunday's doubleheader at the Harford Sports Complex.
The Fighting Owls put together their strongest performance of the year in order in secure the win. They reached new season highs on offense with 19 hits and nine RBI. Defensively, Harford did not commit an error for the first time this season.
Harford tallied three multi-base hits for just the third time this season, highlighted by
Olivia Gallimore's three-run homer in the first and
Amanda Sullivan's two-RBI double in the fourth.
The combination of Sullivan (4.2 IP, 3 ER) and Jess Miller (2.1, 2 ER) worked well on the mound for the Fighting Owls. They combined to allow just eight hits while striking out five over seven innings.
Harford improves to 1-19 with the win. Corning drops to 2-5.
