Bel Air, Md. – After claiming their first win of the season earlier in the day, the Fighting Owls dropped a back-and-forth game two of their doubleheader with the Red Barons, 17-16.
Despite the loss, Harford managed to produce new season highs in seven different offensive categories, most notably their 16 runs and five extra base hits.
Harford fielding errors in the final three innings allowed Corning to score an additional four runs. The Fighting Owls made up for it at the plate, as six players ended with at least two base knocks.
Harford would have a chance to win it in the seventh, loading the bases with just one out while trailing 17-15. An RBI-groundout plated
Amanda Sullivan to bring Harford within one, but Corning reliever Laura Burrell secured the final out to end the rally.
The Fighting Owls fall to 1-20 after the loss. Corning improves to 3-5.
