Batavia, N.Y. –No. 2 Harford came up just short in the programs first NJCAA National Championship semifinal appearance, falling to the No. 3 Onondaga Lazers, 16-13, Saturday afternoon at Genesee Community College.
Tyler Wagoner's goal less than two minutes into the contest handed the Fighting Owls the first lead of the day. Onondaga went on to score four of the next six, with
Alex Wroe and
Owen Consoletti sprinkling in a goal each to tie the game at 4-4. The Lazers tucked home a fifth with just over a minute left in the first, but
Eli Doyle answered in the second to tie the game once more.
Onondaga went up by as many as three in the second quarter, but goals from Doyle and Consoletti cut the Lazers' advantage down to 9-8 heading into the halftime.
The Lazers came out of the break firing, netting five goals in the third compared to Harford's one. The Fighting Owls made things interesting in the final 15 minutes, fighting back within three goals of tying the game after early scores from
Andrew Stump and Consoletti. Their push fell just short, as the Onondaga went goal for goal with the men in blue the rest of the way to seal Harford's fate.
Harford ends its 2019 season with a 13-2 record, the best in program history.
