Bel Air, Md. – Fighting Owls sophomore
Chandler Schmidt scored a career high nine times, leading No. 1 seed Harford to a 31-8 blowout of the No. 4 Essex Knights, Friday afternoon at the Harford Sports Complex.
Schmidt collected a hat trick just seven minutes to the first quarter, sandwiching three goals around an
Alex Wroe score to give Harford an early 4-0 lead. He'd net three straight midway through the second and two more in the third as part of 16-3 Harford run through the middle two quarters.
The Fighting Owls defense put on a lights out performance, allowing no more than three goals from the Knights in any quarter. They tallied 19 caused turnovers while limiting their conference rival to 28 shots.
Harford improves to 12-1 on the year with the win. They have won 12 straight contests and move on to Sunday's Region 20 finals.
Essex sees their season end with an 8-5 mark after the loss.
