SUMTER, S.C – Harford rode six extra base hits to earn a season opening sweep on Saturday, downing the USC Sumter Fire Ants, 10-2, in game two of a doubleheader.
Mason Hicks' second inning bomb to right center opened up a 3-0 lead the for the men in blue. Harford pilled on three more runs in response to Sumter's two over the next four innings, but a
Reyce Curnane triple to center in the sixth scored two and blew the doors off the game. Two more runs, including
Alex Barker's solo blast, sealed the deal for the Fighting Owls.
Sophomore starter
Caleb Musco (1-0) picked up the win from the bump. He allowed two runs but struck out a half-dozen hitters through 4 2/3 innings.
Harford moves to 2-0 on the season with the win, while Sumter plummets to 1-6.
