SUMTER, S.C – Braydon Parr's three hit, three-RBI performance tilted game one in favor of the Fighting Owls, as Harford picked up a 5-3 over the USC Sumter Fire Ants in its season opener.
Parr did most of his work during the middle innings, sending a solo blast over the left field wall in the fourth to pull Harford within a score. A fifth inning fielding error by the Fire Ants pulled the game to a tie, but Parr's single to center that drove in a pair a couple at-bats later proved to be the difference.
Cameron Kalandros (1-0) was tabbed for the victory after a stellar relief performance. The redshirt freshman allowed just three hits and struck out five in four innings of work.
Harford improves to 1-0 on the season with the win, while Sumter topples to 1-5.
