Harford Battles Past Hagerstown, Win Streak Moves to 10

BEL AIR, Md. - In a match they needed to win in order to keep their Maryland JUCO title hopes alive, the Fighting Owls bested the Hagerstown Hawks 3-1 to remain undefeated in conference play.

Harford (13-2, 8-0) and Hagerstown (8-5, 8-1) were both undefeated against MD JUCO competition heading into Sunday's showdown, which also served as the "Dig Pink" game for both teams in an effort to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The Fighting Owls walked away at the end of the night with its now 10-game win streak and spotless conference record intact.

Harford managed to slip past Hagerstown in the opening pair of sets, making late runs in the first (8-2) and second (12-2) to earn a 2-0 lead. The Hawks bounced back to take the third set 25-15 as the women in blue struggled with errors, but the Fighting Owls flipped the script and won by the same score in set four to earn the victory.

Katie Keech led all players on offense with 12 kills. while Sarah Markland returned to the floor and topped everyone with 22 assists. On defense, Benedetta Canfora tallied 22 digs while Martina Croce chipped in 11 digs and a team high five aces.
