BEL AIR, Md. - In their first appearance in a Region 20 DI Final since 2016, the top seeded Fighting Owls fell 3-2 to No. 2 Montgomery on Saturday afternoon.
Harford fired on all cylinders early, building up a 2-0 lead in the first 18 minutes of the match.
Alexis Garcia hit pay dirt just five minutes into the contest on an assist from
Kye Williams, then Williams hit the back of the net in the 18th after ripping the ball from a Montgomery defender inside the 18.Â
From their Harford struggled offensively, while Montgomery pushed forward and found its first goal in the 39th to cut the deficit in half before the break. Harford's
Alexis Garcia would hit the post out of the break, then found themselves back at square one when Montgomery tied the game in the 55th. The two teams traded chances until the 77th, when the Raptors scored its third unanswered goal. Montgomery saved an 82nd minute header by
Giovane Dos Santos, then road out of the rest of the game unchallenged.
Harford drops to 14-4 after the loss.
