TYLER, Tx. - In its first NJCAA Divison I National Championship game in program history, the Harford men's soccer team fell 3-0 to the No. 1 seed and defending champion Salt Lake.
The Bruins of Salt Lake got off to a rapid start, scoring its first goal just three minutes into the first half. A handball in the box by Harford allowed Salt Lake a penalty kick at the 12th minute mark, which the Bruins would score to take a 2-0 lead.
Harford held off Salt Lake until the 37th minute, taking a 3-0 lead on a shot which crossed up the Fighting Owls defense and eventually trickled into the net. The Fighting Owls did little to change the game in the second half, as Harford found itself stuck defending in its own end while the undefeated Bruins maintained possession.
The Fighting Owls fall to 16-5 with the loss.
