ROCKVILLE, Md. - For the first time in program history, Harford men's soccer is headed to the NJCAA DI National Championship!
The Fighting Owls fought from behind on Saturday evening to defeat the No. 3 seed Montgomery, 2-1, earning the East District Championship and securing an automatic bid to nationals.
Harford and Montgomery sat level at the half, with neither team able to do much on offense. The Raptors finally broke through out of the break, scoring in the 53rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. 10 minutes later and
Tyrik Trotman tied the game once again off a well placed free kick from
Kye Williams.
The two teams continued to battle over the next 20 minutes, but it was Harford who struck in the 86th on a cross from Williams that found
Alexis Garcia on the left post for the lead. The Fighting Owl defense led by
Ben Cook held off a desperate Raptors side for he final four minutes to see out the victory.
Harford is now 16-4 on the year.
