ROCKVILLE, Md. - Harford guard
Chandler Johnson scored a season high 19 points, but the Fighting Owls fell 69-68 to the Montgomery Raptors Saturday afternoon.
Nick Parrish bounced with for 13 points and a team leading five steals, while
Ricardo Ross dumped in 10 points.
Harford is now 3-4 (1-2 MD JUCO) for the year.
Turning Point
Trailing by nine points at 3:12 in the second half, Harford squeezed in an 11-2 run to tie the game with just under a minute to play. A missed jumper from Montgomery and a foul put Harford on the line for a 1 and 1 with 21 seconds left. Nick Parish missed free throw but scooped up the rebound and called for a timeout.
The Fighting Owls put the ball into the hands of
Ricardo Ross on the inbound, but the freshman guard's mid-range floater clanked off the rim and into the hands of a Montgomery player who was being fouled. The Raptors hit one of two free throws with five seconds to go, giving Harford one last chance at winning the game. The Fighting Owls pressed up the court on the inbound, but an errant pass led to a turnover that ended the game.
