FREDERICK, Md. – A four-run fourth from Harford was not enough to contain the Cougars in game two, as the Fighting Owls dropped the latter half of its doubleheader, 13-5, Wednesday evening at Frederick.
Frederick did most of its work in the first three innings, scoring 12 runs compared to Harford's one. The Fighting Owls responded with their best inning in fourth, plating a quartet of runs on hits from
Jordan Haslacker (RBI-double), Kalee Siler (RBI-single) and
Paige Blaker (two RBI-single).
Harford looked to put together another big frame in the top of the fifth. A two-out rally started by a
Rilee Fazenbaker single and a Frederick error put runners on first and second for the women in blue. However, the Cougar's defense scooped up a ground ball and recorded the third out to retire the side.
Frederick ended the game in the fifth via mercy rule after picking up its final run via RBI-single.
Harford dips to 0-2 (0-2 MD JUCO) with the loss, while Frederick improves to 2-0 (2-0).
