BEL AIR, Md. – A quartet of Fighting Owls homered on Saturday, guiding Harford to a 19-5 mercy rule victory over the Allegany Trojans in game one at the Harford Sports Complex.
Harford sprinted out to an 8-0 lead in the first, all of which came off extra base hits.
Zach Smith kicked off the scoring with a three-run shot to right, then
Brelon Harden tripled a few batters later to score one.
Hunter Blair laced an RBI-double to center that plated a run, and
Joe Quelch went yard to bring in Blair as well as
Ty Kwiatkoski for three before the side was retired.
The Fighting Owls went on to score four runs in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth.
Jeremiah Guzman and Kwiatkoski hit the final two long balls, both coming in the second inning.
Chris Hamann (2-0) triumphed on the mound. He struck out five batters and allowed just one run in three innings of work.
Harford move to 7-0-1 (7-0) after the draw, while Allegany falls to 1-3 (0-3).
