WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – An early lead helped defeat Mercer County, 8-5, Wednesday afternoon to sweep the Vikings.
After surrendering two runs to MCCC in the opening inning, Harford would outpace the Vikings 8-1 over the next three frames to take over the game.
Despite peddling out just six hits in the game, the Fighting Owls made them all count. Their most prominent at-bats came from two familiar faces: a two-RBI single by
Joe Quelch in the second and home run by
Reyce Curnane that plated three in the fourth.
Jeremy Lapp (2-0),
Chris Wallace, and
Zane Grimes (S, 1) kept Harford in contention with solid pitching. The trio combined for eight strikeouts while allowing just seven hits.
Harford bumps up to 12-1-1 with the win, while Mercer County drops to 5-4.
