BEL AIR, Md. – After nearly a year away from live game action, the Harford Fighting Owls baseball team returned to play inside Harford Sports Complex on Tuesday. The boys from Bel Air looked like they never left, overpowering the Anne Arundel Riverhawks with a six-inning, 10-run rule victory.
Revered over the years for their powerful bats, the Fighting Owls carried on that legacy with seven extra base hits in their opening contest.
Andrew Sicinski made his Harford debut and impressed quickly, mashing a ball over the right field wall for a grand slam in the first. A wild pitch scored one more, putting the Fighting Owls ahead 6-0 after one.
The Fighting Owls went on to plate four more runs compared to Anne Arundel's three over the next four innings. Harford eventually sealed the deal in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of RBI-singles by
Braydon Parr and
Brelon Harden. One batter later and Anne Arundel committed their third fielding error of the game to hand the Fighting Owls their first victory.
Harford moves to 1-0 on the year, while Anne Arundel drops to 0-1 to start 2021.
