BEL AIR, Md. – The Fighting Owl baseball team finished up their six-game home stand with a 6-3 triumph over the CCBC-Essex Knights on Sunday afternoon at the Harford Sports Complex.
The men in blue jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a failed pickoff attempt by Essex and a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Braydon Parr. Both team's bats went silent until the fourth, when
Reyce Curnane broke through with an RBI-double that scored two.
Things got tight for Harford over the next couple of innings, as Essex scraped together one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to pull within one. A bases loaded walk and an RBI-groundout by
Jack Flanagan finally gave the Fighting Owls some breathing room in the bottom of the sixth.
Harford then turned to
Chris Wallace to end the game on the mound. The sophomore did just that, sandwiching three strikeouts around a walk to earn himself a save and the Fighting Owls a victory.
Harford spikes to 6-0 (6-0 MD JUCO) with the victory, while Essex remains winless at 0-3 (0-3 MD JUCO).
