LA PLATA, Md. - The Harford Fighting Owls dumped the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Hawks 15-3, Sunday afternoon on the road.
Sophomore
Matt Rivera sparked the big day at the plate, mashing two home runs and tallying five RBI. The New Jersey native put Harford on the board in the top of the second with a two-run blast to tie the game at 2-2, then struck again one inning later with a three-run bomb.
Joe Quelch joined in on the home runs in third with a solo shot that gave Harford the lead. The men in blue's final runs of the game were also scored via long ball when
Mason Hicks drove home a pair in the fifth.
The Fighting Owls spread their runs over four innings, highlighted by their five-run third and fifth. Five of their ten hits on the afternoon were extra-base knocks.
Carter Heller and
Hunter Bell took care of business on the mound, combining to allow just five hits and two earned runs while striking out eight.
Harford improves to 17-7-1 with the victory.
