BEL AIR, Md. – A late innings surge came up just a few feet short, as Harford fell 4-3 to the ASA (NY) Avengers, Saturday afternoon inside the Harford Sports Complex.
The Fighting Owls found themselves behind 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Harford started the inning with two outs, but a
John McNamee walk allowed
Hunter Blair a shot at the dish. Blair made the Avengers pay, shooting a ball over the centerfield wall to cut ASA's lead in half.
Harford reliever
Hunter Bell (2 IP, 2 K's) tossed a scoreless top of the seventh, keeping the men in blue within two of extending the game two extras. Much like the sixth, the Fighting Owls started with back-to-back outs before a walk extended the inning. A second walk brought up
Andrew Sicinski, who put a ball in play that ended up scoring one run on a fielding error by the first basemen.
This would bring up McNamee to extend the game once more. The freshman first baseman battled but ended up flying out to the centerfielder to end the contest.
Harford drops to 22-8-1 after the loss.
