CATONSVILLE, Md. - Harford picked up its fifth win of the season Saturday night, defeating the Catonsville Cardinals, 2-1.
The first 45 minutes were dead even, with neither team able to take advantage of any opportunities on offensive. Catonsville outshot Harford 5-4 in the first half, but the men in blue had five corner kicks compared to the Cardinals one.
Things quickly changed in the second half, as
Richmond Kemausuor tucked in a feed from
Paul Rose two minutes out of the break to give the Fighting Owls a 1-0 lead.
Back-and-forth play resumed again until the 87', when Harford's
Michael Gisriel and Catonsville's Williams Yami scored just eight seconds seconds apart to drive the score up to 2-1.
With just minutes remaining in the contest, Catonsville secured possession and looked for a goal to tie the game. They came within inches of doing so. as a shot in the 88' rattled off the post and out of play. A corner kick 30 seconds later was unable to provide the answer as well, earning Harford a hard fought victory.
