Middlesex, NJ – The Harford Fighting Owls women's basketball team captured their first win of the season with a come from behind victory over the Middlesex College Colts. Starting the season with four straight losses, the Fighting Owls were determined to come home with a victory. However, Harford fell behind early. Middlesex controlled the pace of the game in the 1
st and 2
nd quarters to take a 34 – 23 lead going into halftime.
An 11-point differential did not deter the competitive spirit of the Harford team who has overcome deficits of 18 and 20 points this season. The comeback was fueled by the offensive explosion from Taylor Crystian (44 pts) and Quren Santiago (21 pts) and shutdown defense from Kaliyah Harris and two sport athlete, Julia Skinner. Crystian and Santiago both set career highs in points.
Patty Medina stated, "This was a team effort. We are celebrating the small victories that will lead to bigger ones." Harford shot 87% from the free throw line, hit 43% from the field, and caused 16 turnovers. The team effort was sparked by Crystian's 44 points which is one of the highest single game scoring records in Harford women's basketball history.
