BEL AIR, Md. - Harford captured its second straight win in dramatic fashion, as
Chandler Johnson's layup and a
Ricardo Ross steal sealed an 78-77 victory over the Prince George's Owls Friday evening.
Ross led the way with 23 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while
Maseo Carson flanked him with 20 points.
Harford is now 12-7 (6-3 MD JUCO) with the victory.
Turning Point
In front of a roaring APGFCU Arena filled with local youth programs, Harford rose up and took an 11 point lead at the break. Prince George's fought back and eventually took the lead midway through the second half. The Fighting Owls would go back up by as much as eight points in the final 10 minutes. but the other Owls crawled back in and took four point leads on three different occasions. Clutch shots by
Malik Carson and
Maseo Carson kept Harford within one point of the lead with 21 seconds to play.
A foul to stop the clock with 16 seconds left put PG at the line once again, but the shooter missed both and Harford won the ball after a PG turnover.
Chandler Johnson came back down the court and floated in a layup with six seconds left to put the Fighting Owls up one before the Owls called time. On the inbound,
Ricardo Ross would pop the ball out of the Prince George's guard's hands to seal the game.
