CUMBERLAND, Md. - The Fighting Owls earned a sweep of the Allegany Trojans, taking two from its Region 20 foe on the road.
Allegany scored five runs on the day, all of which came in the first frame of each game. They were outscored 31-0 in all other innings.
Game 1 | Harford 10 - Allegany 2
Four Fighting Owls tallied two RBI each, as the Fighting Owls came from behind to defeat the Trojans in game one.
Allegany took advantage of Harford's long bus ride to Cumberland, striking for a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. The Fighting Owl bats finally arrived in the middle innings, plating five runs in the third and four in the fourth.
After a shaky start,
Bobby Spencer (1-1) was able to right the ship to earn his first victory as a Fighting Owl. The Atlanta native tossed all seven innings and struck out seven while allowing just four hits.
Joe Suarez led Harford at the dish with two doubles, while
Joe Quelch homered and doubled for two RBI.
Trey Cruz also finished with a home run and two RBI.
Game 2 | Harford 21 - Allegany 3
The Fighting Owls scored a season high 21 runs in game two, crushing Allegany en route to a sweep of the Trojans.
Harford's 28 runs are its most since April 16, 2019, when Harford plated 28 in a route of CCBC-Catonsville.
The Trojans struck early once again, plating three in the bottom of the first for an early advantage. Their lead quickly dissipated, as the Fighting Owls went on to drive home 14 runs in the second inning and seven more in the third.
