NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - After being mercy ruled in game one of their doubleheader, the Fighting Owls bounced back with its best offensive performance of the season to down the Monroe Mustangs.
Harford scored a new seasons with 16 runs on 18 hits and 15 RBI. They also set new watermarks for at-bats (40), extra base hits (nine), and home runs (three).
The Fighting Owls led early, but Monroe battled back to knot the game at 7-7 after four. Harford regained the lead with a bases loaded walk, then three straight doubles drove home five runs to put the Fighting Owls ahead 13-7. Monroe crawled back within three over the next two innings, but Harford managed to score three of its own to put the finishing touches on a 16-10 victory.Â
Eight Fighting Owls reached base at least one hit, while seven finished with multiple hits.
Jess Bouthet topped them all with three hits and five RBI.
Lena Wondolowski also had a monster game with two inside the park home runs and four RBI.Â
Harford stands at 8-8 on the year after the victory.
