ROSSVILLE, Md. - Harford rode a 5-2 first quarter lead to victory on Saturday, topping CCBC-Essex 11-9 on the road.
Harford never trailed in the contest thanks to a strong open. The Fighting Owls held a 5-2 lead after the first quarter, then score two more to start the second quarter for a five goal advantage. Essex snapped back into form and score the next four to pull within in one midway through the third.
A pair of goals by Taz Delaney and one strike from
Ben Ferrell sandwiched an Essex goal, leaving Harford with a three score lead entering the fourth. The Knights made one final push for the game, finding the back of the net at 12:26 and 6:39. The next five minutes were quiet on the offensive end before Delaney delivered the final blow to the Knights with a goal in the last 90 seconds.Â
Jake Lotz performed admirably between the pipes, stopping 11 shots for the contest. He was added in defensive by
Chris Greenstein (three caused turnovers) and
Payton O'Mara (two caused turnovers, four ground balls).
Harford moves to 3-1 with the victory.
