BEL AIR, Md. - The Fighting Owls were victorious at home for the first time since April 12 of 2018, defeating the Cayuga Spartans 10-5 on Friday evening.
The win is also Harford's first since a road victory against Southern Maryland on April 17, 2019.
Cayuga led 4-2 heading to the bottom of the second, but a double steal and
Jess Bouthet's single up the middle tied the game at 4-4 after two. A quiet third gave way to a rousing fourth for the women in blue, as
Emily Curry's two-RBI triple and
Lena Wondolowski's RBI-double elevated Harford to an 8-4 lead. The Fighting Owls struck again in the next inning, as Curry picked up an RBI as well as
Kaitlyn Delaney, who tripled to drive home Bouthet.
The Spartans struck in the seventh for one run, starter
Riley Fisher sent the next batter packing via punch out to earn the win. Fisher (1-2) struck out 10 through seven innings to earn her first collegiate victory from the circle.
Harford is now 1-4 on the year.
