ARNOLD, Md. - In a game that featured 23 walks, 15 strikeouts and eight errors between the two teams, the Fighting Owls came through late and defeated Anne Arundel 19-7 on Tuesday afternoon.
Harford trailed 5-3 after four innings of play, as Anne Arundel plated four runs in the opening frame and another in the second.
Braedon Karpathios and
Jeremiah Guzman produced the early offense for the Fighting Owls, including an RBI double by Guzman and a base knock by Karpathios which scored Guzman in the third.
The floodgates finally opened up for the Fighting Owls in the fifth, as
Quinn Madden's two-run homer gave way to 16 runs scored by Harford over the last three innings. Anne Arundel plated just two runs during the same period.
On the mound,
Brendan Erka (1-0) scored the victory in relief of starter
Austin Biddle. Erka struck out three over the third and fourth innings.
Harford bumps up to 8-2 (3-0 MD JUCO) on the year with the win.
