BEL AIR, Md. - Rilee Fazenbaker earned her first collegiate victory from the circle and
Mackenzie Burton grabbed her first save, as the Fighting Owls dropped Allegany 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Fazenbaker (1-1) allowed five hits and one earned run over four innings. The freshman right-hander was aided by a strong defensive showing, including an inning-ending double play in the third with runners on first and second. She also chipped in a pair of hits in three plate appearances.
Harford's offensive did all of its work in the fourth, driving home four runs on five hits and an error.
Jess Bouthet's single to center drove home Bri Brunetto to tie the game at 1-1.
Kaitlyn Delaney (2-for-3) stepped up next and slapped a double to the same part of the field to bring in Bouthet and Burton for a 3-1 lead. Two batters late and
Lena Wondolowski scored
Emily Curry on a single up the middle to lock in a 4-1 scoreline.
Burton (S, 1) took over one batter into the fifth inning and sandwiched two outs around a walk. A single through the left side loaded the bases, but Burton halted the rally by forcing a groundout to the shortstop to retire the side. She coerced Allegany into stranding three runners in the sixth and two in the seventh to send the Trojans packing.
Harford improves to 17-13 (6-6 MD JUCO) with the victory.
