Harford Storms Back to Stun CSM

BEL AIR, Md. - Ehi Okojie's RBI single capped off an epic comeback for Harford, as the Fighting Owls flipped an 11-0 deficit into a 14-13 victory over the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Hawks on Sunday afternoon.

The Hawks stunned the Harford faithful early, piling on 11 runs through the top of the third. The Fighting Owls had no answers for the CSM bats and hurt its cause even further with defensive miscues.

Harford finally showed life in the bottom of the third thanks to two-run home runs from Jeremiah Guzman and Okojie. Joe Quelch kicked off the scoring in the fourth after scoring on a wild pitch and Nick Gaitan capped off the five-run frame with a two-RBI double that pulled Harford within two.

CSM did not go away quietly, plating three runs in the fifth to drive its advantage to 13-9. The Hawks kept Harford at-bay over the next two frames, but the seventh proved to be a different story. Gaitan picked up where he left off in the fifth with a single and Braedon Karpathios followed suit. A single by Quelch followed that and scored one to cut the deficit to three. Quelch was tailed by Trey Cruz, who sent a ball sailing over the left center wall to tie the game.

After a CSM pitching change and several defensive adjustments, play resumed with a Blake Mayberry walk. Guzman (single) and Andrew Sicinski (HBP) reached shortly after to load the bases for Ehi Okojie. The Maryland native made good on his role as the designated hitter, smashing a pitch to left field to end the game and complete the comeback.

Harford improves to 36-6 (19-4 MD JUCO) after the win.
