SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The No. 1 Fighting Owls made quick work of the No. 4 Genesee Cougars on Saturday, downing their NJCAA Women's Lacrosse National Championship semifinal foe 19-7.
Harford went up early, scoring seven straight goals to start the contest. After giving up a pair to end the first, the Fighting Owls netted five of their own without conceding. This left the parliament up 12-2 at the break.
While the Cougars faired better in the second half, Harford remained in front by doubling up its New York opposition in the third (4-2) and matching them in the fourth (3-3). The parliament shut out Genesee for the final 3:46 to see out the victory.
The Fighting Owls 19 goals came from from main contributors. At the forefront for the afternoon was Gabby Trezeciak, who finished with six goals and an assist.
Claire Ashburn and
Casey DiVenti both chipped in three scores and two helpers, while
Madison Dawson also ended with a hat trick.
On defense,
Jacqueline Garst led the way with four caused turnovers and seven ground balls. She was flanked by
Lauren Puntanen's three and three in each category.
Harford moves to 6-2 on the year after the victory.
