GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - A first half deficit was too much to overcome for Harford, as the Fighting Owls dropped its national semifinal contest to the Nassau Lions on Saturday.

Trevor Sousa's goal was the only point for Harford in the first two quarters. Nassau would score four goals in the first and four more in the second en route to an 8-1 lead entering the half.

The Fighting Owls scored the first goal out of the break, but the Lions scored a quartet of goals following that to go ahead 12-2. Harford finally mounted a comeback, netting four goals of its own over the next six minutes to pull within seven. After both teams went scoreless from 13:06 to 8:39 in the fourth, the Fighting Owls broke through to drive the score to 12-7. Nate Surd found the back of the net 90 seconds later, but Harford was once again held scoreless until the final minute. A late goal from Ben Ferrell brought things to 12-9 but it was too little, too late.

Surd led the the parliament with a hat trick. Sousa finished with a pair of goals, while four other players tallied one. Isaac Albers headlined Harford's defense with a pair of caused turnovers. Seven other Fighting Owls finished with one.

Harford's season concludes at 10-2.
