BATAVIA, NY – The #3 Harford Men's Lacrosse team travelled north to face the Genessee Cougars in game one of their overnight stay in New York.
The Fighting Owls jumped out to a quick start in the first period to go up four unanswered out of the gates. Four different players would find the net for Harford including
Dylan Tomarchio and
Carter Korzenski who each scored twice. The first quarter would end with Harford up 6 to 3 and in comfortable control of the tempo. The second period would be a slower paced back and forth, ending in a 2-2 draw. Harford would enter halftime up 8 to 5 with plenty of time left on the clock to extend their lead against the former #5 team in the nation.
The second half duo of
Jack Mulligan and
Dylan Tomarchio would add two more goals to the Harford tally. As a team, the Fighting Owls would pile on six more goals to cushion their lead throughout the half. The Cougars were able to sneak two goals past freshman
Alex Epple, but he otherwised managed 12 saves on the day and prevented any glimmer of hope for Genesee to mount a comeback.
Dylan Tomarchio led the team in scoring with four goals.
Carter Korzenski and
Jack Mulligan added three of their own, while
Jay Rodriguez,
Matt Logan,
Cayden Collins, and
Payton O'Mara would all contribute to the victory with a goal-a-piece.
Steven Mancha led the team in caused turnovers with four, and
Jay Rodriguez collected five ground balls.
The win extends Harford's record to 2-0 on the season.
Tomorrow the team will face Monroe Community College in Rochester. That game is set to start at 1:00 PM.
