In a captivating volleyball showdown in Keyser, WV, Harford Community College emerged victorious against WVU Potomac State in a five-set nail-biter. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Fighting Owls.
From the opening set, it was evident that both teams were determined to showcase their skills and claim the win. Harford Community College took the first set with a score of 25-23 after a tremendous comeback, displaying remarkable precision in their kills and aces. WVU Potomac State responded with a powerful performance in the second set, winning 25-15 and leveling the match at one set apiece.
The third set witnessed both teams pushing their limits, but WVU Potomac State managed to secure a 25-19 victory, taking the lead in the match. However, Harford Community College showcased their resilience and determination, bouncing back in the fourth set with a score of 25-19, setting the stage for a thrilling fifth and final set.
The fifth set was more one-sided as the Fighting Owls found their rhythm and gradually pulled away and out of reach of the Catamounts. Harford's precision in kills and aces proved decisive, helping them secure the set 15-8 and ultimately clinch the match with a 3-2 victory.
Throughout the match, standout performances were on full display from both sides. Harford's Laura Piva led the way in kills with 14, closely followed by Kaja Szuba with 11 and Morgan Barnett with 5. Barnett also impressed with 6 aces, contributing to the team's success. Defensively, Gianna Braxton's 5 blocks and Szuba's 9 digs were crucial in stifling WVU Potomac State's attacks.
