Harford Holds Off the Roadrunners

The Harford Fighting Owls women's soccer team traveled to Sewell, NJ for a non-conference matchup against the Rowan-Gloucester Roadrunners. The contest ended in a 3-0 win for Harford and sealed their first victory of 2023.

The game's momentum shifted early in favor of Harford with the Fighting Owls managing 10 shots to Rowan's 0 in the first half. In the 30th minute, Carly Hemmings made a significant impact, scoring a goal from the top of the box with a shot that eluded the keeper, finding the low corner of the net. This early goal set the tone for Harford's offensive prowess and intent.

As the game continued, Harford continued to control the pace and dictate the proceedings. In the 60th minute, Reagan Saboy capitalized on an assist from Rachel Anderson. Saboy's well-placed chip from outside the box caught the keeper off guard, doubling Harford's lead.

The third goal for Harford came just three minutes later, in the 63rd minute. Brianna Walker found the net with a shot from the top of the box, utilizing another assist from Rachel Anderson. A give-and-go play left the keeper with little chance of making a save as a laser of a finish sailed past her outstretched hand and into the top right corner.

Defensively, Harford maintained a solid presence, effectively neutralizing Rowan College South's offensive efforts. Harford's goalkeeper made one save, ensuring a clean sheet for the team.

In terms of statistics, Harford dominated in various facets of the game. They recorded a total of 26 shots, with 18 of those shots on target. Their offensive display was complemented by 5 corner kicks to Rowan's zero. Goalkeeper Evie Heinlein recorded her second shutout of the season, with a good deal of credit going to her solid back line.

Next up the Fighting Owls head to Montgomery College to face the Mercer County Vikings over Labor Day weekend.
