BEL AIR, MD - In a double-overtime thriller at the APGFCU Arena, the Fighting Owls fell to Penn State York by a score of 101-104.
The first half was decided by free-throws as both teams managed identical output from the floor. Harford would earn 7 opportunities at the charity stripe and sink 6, while Penn State York would go 13 of 17. The second half would see an increase in Harford's scoring percentage, going 19-35 (54%), but the Fighting Owls would find themselves down 12 points with 8 minutes remaining in regulation. With just 20 seconds on the clock, Harford would manage to pull within 2 after a fast break transition by
Chandler Johnson. On the inbound the Fighting Owls would press and
Ty Williams would make the steal to set up
Paul Mason for the dunk and the tying basket to force overtime.
Ty Williams would dominate the first overtime period with 8 points, going 1-2 from the floor and 6-8 from free throws. Penn State York would manage a perfect performance from the floor going 4-4 to keep the game level. With just 2 seconds left and Harford down one,
Ty Williams would have an opportunity to sink two free throws and put the home team up one. Instead he would go 1-2 and the teams would enter double overtime.
The second overtime period was commanded by
Donovan Miller who managed 13 of the team's 17 points, going 5-5 from the floor and 3-3 from three point range. His effort would not be enough to combat the offensive output by Penn State York who would go 5-6 from the floor and 9-10 from free throws, compared to Harford's 6-13 and 2-2.
After a hard-fought loss the Fighting Owls fall to 9-6 on the year, and Penn State York improves to 12-3. Next up, Harford travels to Delaware Tech for a rematch against the Athletics.
