BEL AIR, Md. — Harford Community College Fighting Owls men's basketball posted an 88–61 home win over the College of Southern Maryland Hawks Saturday afternoon at APGFCU Arena. The victory moved Harford to 5–6 overall and 2–1 in conference play.
From the opening tip, Harford set the tone with a sharp offensive showing. The Fighting Owls knocked down 14 of 32 field-goal attempts in the first half — a robust 43.8% — and drilled six three-pointers. Meanwhile, the Hawks managed only 12 of 26 from the floor and hit 4 of 11 from deep, totaling 33 first-half points. By halftime, Harford held a comfortable 43–33 lead.
The Fighting Owls maintained momentum in the second half behind a balanced attack. Harford shot 17 of 36 from the field and added nine of 14 free throws. Overall, Harford outscored CSM 45–28 after intermission and never relinquished control.
Red-shirt sophomore guard Tre Powell (Friendship Collegiate) paced Harford with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting and buried five three-pointers — including multiple from beyond the arc during the first half burst. Forward Justus Stanton (Newtown) added 18 points, helping sustain the Fighting Owls' offensive consistency.
Point guard Kehdinga "Junior" Tutuwan (Blake) contributed 17 points, while guard Jacobi Harper (Chesapeake, Va.) delivered 12 points and hit all six of his free throws.
Harford also held an edge on the boards, with 36 rebounds to CSM's 29. That advantage helped limit Southern Maryland's second-chance opportunities and control pace. The Fighting Owls also generated 11 points off turnovers and scored 34 points from the bench, underscoring their depth and team effort.
The Owls' balanced scoring, defensive discipline and strong board work demonstrated growth and cohesion.
Harford returns to action next week on Dec. 16 with a road game agains Cecil College.
