Men's Lacrosse: No. 1 Fighting Owls Have No Trouble with Dragons in 22-11 Road Victory

COLUMBIA, MD -- On Wednesday evening, the No. 1 ranked Harford men's lacrosse team extended its undefeated season by beating the Howard Dragons for the second time this season, this time by a commanding final score of 22-11. The win improves the Fighting Owls record to 7-0 overall.

The match began evenly, with tied at three by the end of the first quarter. However, Harford seized control in the second quarter, outscoring Howard 8-1 to take an 11-4 lead into halftime.

The Fighting Owls maintained their momentum in the second half, adding six goals in the third quarter and five more in the fourth, while Howard managed only seven goals in the same period.

Harford's offensive prowess was on full display, led by Kohl Wesner (Lancaster, Pa.) who netted six goals and Hugo Peel (Stockport, Manchest, England) who contributed four.

Kennedy Opie (Natick, Mass.) added a hat trick and two assists, while Eammon Donovan (Berwyn, Pa.) and George Shonfeld (Stockport, Manchest, England) each scored twice and had one and two assists, respectively.

Additional goals came from Ryan Sweiderk (Kent Island), Seth De La Ronde (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), Drew Grau (Aspen, Colo.), Liam Forsyth (Webster, N.Y.) and Owen Ellis (Coatesville, Pa.). Forsyth, recently named NJCAA Region 20 Division I Men's Lacrosse Player of the Month (March), led the team with three assists.

Defensively, the Owls were anchored by goalkeeper Jack Donovan (Loyola Blakefield), who recorded seven saves. Harford's defense effectively limited Howard's opportunities, particularly in the second and third quarters, allowing only three goals during that span.

The team's ability to control possession and capitalize on scoring chances was evident throughout the game.

This victory also marks Harford's tenth consecutive win over Howard, continuing a streak that dates back to 2019.

Looking ahead, Harford is on the road today to take on No. 4 ranked Onondaga. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Watch live on Onondaga's Lazers Live Sports Network.
