No. 1 Harford Controls Genesee Behind Balanced Attack at Harford Sports Complex

BEL AIR, Md. — The nation's top-ranked Harford Community College men's lacrosse team posted a dominating performance on Saturday, defeating Genesee Community College 28-5 at Harford Stadium within the Harford Sports Complex. The Fighting Owls spread the scoring across their lineup while controlling possession, limiting the Cougars' opportunities, and maintaining pressure for the full 60 minutes.

Harford (5-0) jumped out early, generating offense from multiple contributors. Trent Mooradian (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada) led the charge with eight goals on 10 shots, including 10 shots on goal, while George Shonfeld (Stockport, Manchester, England) recorded three goals and eight assists for a team-high 11 points. Hugo Peel (Stockport, Manchester, England) added three goals and two assists, and Cade Cordingley (Ontario, Canada) contributed three goals and two assists, helping the Fighting Owls build a commanding lead by halftime.

The Fighting Owls' offensive depth was evident as scoring came from across the roster. Evan Foster (San Mateo, Calif.) recorded one goal and three assists, Gavin Albright (Archbishop Curley) and George Decock (Macomb, Mich.) each scored, while Cody MacNeil (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada) and Eric Hofmann (Kent Island) added goals, complemented by assists from Alex Edwards (Ontario, Canada), Kyle Murrary-Smith (South Strafford, Vt. and others. Overall, Harford's 28 goals were scored on 75 total shots, including 47 on goal.

Possession control and defensive discipline were equally strong. Harford collected 54 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers, with Cordingly leading the defensive effort with six caused turnovers. Jadon McKenzie (Apex, N.C.) contributed nine ground balls and three turnovers, while Edwards added two caused turnovers and two ground balls. The team's defense held Genesee to just five goals, forcing the Cougars into 35 shots from 24 unsuccessful faceoff attempts, limiting their ability to generate sustained offensive pressure.

Harford's midfielders played a key role in transition and ball movement. Nick Nikola (Fallston), Sam Welsh (Columbus, Ohio) and Palmer Austin (St. Mary's) contributed to maintaining offensive flow while also collecting ground balls and winning key possessions. Harford won 24-of-35 faceoffs and converted opportunities quickly, creating a steady stream of shots on goal.

The Fighting Owls continued their dominance into the second half. Mooradian and Shonfeld maintained offensive pressure, while Cordingley and Peel contributed to both scoring and transition plays. The team's passing and spacing created open looks, and Harford consistently converted possessions into goals.

This win adds to Harford's perfect start to the season and continues the Fighting Owls' recent dominance against Genesee, including a 20-9 victory last season. With a roster that combines scoring depth, strong defensive play, and possession control, Harford demonstrated why it remains the nation's top-ranked NJCAA men's lacrosse program.

Harford will next travel to face Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades in Media, Pennsylvania, on March 20. The team then returns home for one of the season's marquee matchups, hosting No. 2 nationally ranked Onondaga Community College Lazers on March 28 at 1 p.m. at Harford Stadium.
