Bel Air, Md. — The Harford Community College men's lacrosse started its 2026 season with two commanding victories at the Harford Sports Complex last weekend. On February 28, the Fighting Owls outlasted a tough Fork Union Military Academy squad 21-13 and the following day, rolled past Army Prep 24-11. With an energized crowd in attendance, Harford improved to 2-0 on the young season behind standout performances from multiple contributors.
February 28: Harford 21, Fork Union Military Academy 13
Harford wasted little time setting the tone in its home opener, racing out to a big first quarter and never looking back in a 21-13 win over Fork Union. The Fighting Owls jumped ahead early, scoring seven goals in the opening period and effectively forcing Fork Union to play catch-up throughout. Harford's offense was balanced and relentless, as the Fighting Owls connected on scoring opportunities from across the field.
Sophomore attackman George Shonfeld led the charge, tallying three goals and continuing his dynamic offensive presence. Will Goodwin and Hugo Peel each added two goals, while Trent Mooradian, Eric Hennessey and a host of others contributed to Harford's prolific attack.
The Owls' pushing tempo paid off in the second quarter, with Harford outscoring the visitors to extend the lead to 13-5 at halftime.
Though Fork Union mounted pressure with key tallies in the second and fourth quarters, Harford consistently responded, keeping its foot on the gas and maintaining control. Defensively, Harford limited transition opportunities and forced turnovers that led to fast-break chances.
March 1: Harford 24, Army Prep 11
The offensive fireworks continued for Harford in Sunday's matchup against Army Prep. After falling behind early, Harford surged back to take the lead and dominate the rest of the contest. Army Prep opened with two first-quarter goals, but Harford answered emphatically, kicking off its comeback with a flurry of scores from Cade Cordingley, Shonfeld and Peel.
By halftime, Harford had seized the momentum and stretched its lead to 12-5, with standout performances from Goodwin and Peel, each netting five goals on the day. Cordingley and Sam Welsh paced a balanced attack that saw scoring contributions from virtually every line. Harford's offense was relentless in the second quarter, outscoring Army Prep and taking firm control of the game.
Defensively, the Fighting Owls limited Army Prep's opportunities and forced turnovers that ignited fast breaks. Bodey Teter and Corbin Wiltse both saw strong action in goal, helping Harford to hold its advantage and secure the win. By the final whistle, Harford's depth and offensive precision were on full display in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
Harford is back in action today on the road in Columbia, Md. to take on rival Howard Community College. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
