Mark Laubner enters his fourth season as an assistant coach of the Fighting Owls men’s lacrosse team.
For the past three years Coach Mark Laubner, through his proven techniques and with the help of qualified assistants, has helped propel the aspirations of Harford Community College goalies to achieve their dream of playing at a level that would get them invited to play at a top tier four year school. While primarily associated with the men’s team, his skill set also utilized by the lady Fighting Owls in the development of their goalies.
Coach Laubner has been involved with lacrosse for more than 40 years. He played most of his lacrosse in the Baltimore County area and made a name for himself as a stand out starting goalie in high school, but pursuing a career as a professional chef cut Laubner’s college lacrosse career short.
While living in Waikiki, Hawaii and working as a chef, Mark’s love of the game never diminished. The lack of availability to the game led Coach Laubner, and several of his colleagues to form the first ever, Hawaiian Lacrosse Club, which is still going strong today (hawaiilacrosse.com). The club first debuted their talents at Aloha Stadium as part of the half time festivities at a Pro Bowl Football game.
Since that time Laubner has coached at every level of the game including Havre de Grace Recreation Council, Susquehanna Stripers Lacrosse Club and Havre de Grace High School. The majority of his coaching tenure has been intensive specialized training of goalies.
