Matt Ryan enters his 2nd season as an assistant with the Fighting Owls Men’s Lacrosse Team.
Prior to joining the Fighting Owls, Ryan spent the last 11 years coaching high school boys lacrosse in the state of Maryland & New York. He served 1 season as the Head Coach (2021) at Aberdeen High School and served 6 seasons as the defensive coordinator (2016-2020). During that time, Aberdeen won the 2019 UCBAC Susquehanna Division Championship for the 1st time in school history & coached 10 All Harford County Players and 20+ All Division Players. Prior to that, Ryan served as an Assistant Coach at Fallston High School, where they were Regional Finalists (2015). Before that, Ryan served as an Assistant Coach at Jericho High School on Long Island (2014).
Ryan began his college lacrosse career at Manhattan College, where he was a starter and leading scoring from the midfield for Division 1 Manhattan College in 2007. Ryan was then an All-Region Player and NJCAA National Champion at Nassau Community College playing for Hall of Famer Richard Speckmann in 2008. Ryan finished his career as a 2-year Starter at the midfield at New York Tech playing for Hall of Famer Jack Kaley in 2009 & 2010.
Ryan played his high school lacrosse on Long Island at Massapequa High School, under coaches Steve Mollot & George Powers.
Ryan has also coached club Lacrosse with True Lacrosse Baltimore & has also spent time coaching club with Rock Lacrosse and the Long Island Pride on Long Island.
Ryan currently resides in Bel Air, with his wife, Roxanne, and two children, Raelynn & Addison.
