Box Score
BEL AIR, Md.—It took the Harford women's soccer team less than two minutes to decide the outcome of its game against Gloucester on Saturday. The Fighting Owls (13-2) allowed the 10-woman Roadrunners (3-12-1) squad just one shot in 90:00, while pelting Gloucester with 31 shots of their own on the way to the 8-0 win at Harford Stadium.
Freshman Erin Lynn (Fallston, Md./Fallston) led the Harford attack, totaling nine points on the day with two goals and three assists, while freshman Beth Lambros (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford) also tacked on two goals.
Lynn had her foot in the first three goals of the game as she fed redshirt freshman Lyndsie Ludwig (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright/Wilmington) at the 1:53 mark before notching her own goal off a pass from freshman Kellie Zionkowski (Colora, Md./Rising Sun) in the seventh minute and assisting freshman Penelope Fantis (Fallston, Md./Fallston) at the 9:29 mark.
Harford would score twice more before the half expired, with an unassisted strike by Lambros during the 28th minute and a score by freshman LaTashia Thomas (Edgewood, Md./Joppatowne) from freshman Brianna Barmer (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) at 40:36.
The second half began in much the same way as the first, but this time the Owls would score a little over three minutes into the start, and Lynn would dish to Lambros at the 48:04 mark, before notching her own goal off Zionkowski's pass at the 52:05 mark.
Freshman Alexa Carlevaro (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) would add the final Owl goal, off freshman Jet Amerg's (Elkton, Md./Rising Sun) corner during the 70th minute.
The Owls held a 8-0 advantage on corner kicks, but committed seven fouls to the Roadrunners' none, while Gloucester keeper Shannon Johnson totaled 10 saves in 90:00 and freshman Cierra Stinson (Nottingham, Md./Mercy) had zero after facing just one shot all day.
The Fighting Owls return to action on Tuesday, October 20 when they host Howard in their final home game of the 2009 regular season. The team will also honor its sophomore players with a pre-game ceremony before the 4:00 p.m. start.
