BEL AIR, Md.—Following the conclusion of the Harford National Invitational Tournament, the Fighting Owls (3-2) met SUNY-Delhi in a dual match, which saw Harford victorious, 8-1.
The Owls swept all but one match from the Broncos (1-2), with a loss in the No. 6 singles slot.
Freshmen Josh Hicks (Fallston, Md./Home School), Josh Meier (Belcamp, Md./Home School), Chris Blackwell (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air/RPI) and Steve Heagy (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and sophomore Josh Hays (Belcamp, Md./Harford Tech) were all double-winners on the day as Hicks and Meier downed Marc Docteur and Tim Deemie, 8-1 at No. 1 doubles before Hicks defeated Docteur, 6-2, 6-2 at No.1 singles and Meier downed Alejandro Ocasio, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot.
Hays would team with Blackwell to beat Ocasio and Nick Benjamin, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles, before Hays faced Benjamin in the No. 3 slot, winning with a 6-0, 6-1 decision, and Blackwell defeated Deemie in the No. 4 singles match, 6-1, 6-1.
Heagy and sophomore Brian McKeldin (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) rounded out the doubles matches with a 9-7 No. 3 win over Rob Davis and Eric Roberts, with Heagy taking down Davis, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
Freshman Mazon Dickerson (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) rounded out the day's matches as he fell, 6-1, 6-2 to Roberts in the No. 6 singles spot.
