CATONSVILLE, Md. - For the second straight road game, the No. 4/5 Harford women's soccer team (6-0-0, 3-0-0) was held scoreless for the first 45 minutes. The powerful Fighting Owls offense could not be held in check for long, however, scoring four goals in the first 17 minutes of the second half for a 4-0 victory.
The dynamic duo of sophomores Erin Lynn and Beth Lambros both scored two goals in the victory. Lynn, who also added an assist, earned the multiple-goal effort for the fourth time this year, and ninth time in her career. Lambros notched the accomplishment for the second time this year, and 12 time in her stellar career.
Just three minutes into the second half, Penelope Fantis found Lynn alone in front, and the forward found the back of the net with a low strike. Just five minutes later, Jenna Quaranta was taken down during her scoring attempt, but Lambros was there to finish, giving the Fighting Owls a 2-0 lead.
In the 58th minute, Meredith Grieves again found Lynn, who beat the Cardinal 'keeper with a low, hard shot. Four minutes later, Lambros put the finishing touches on the offensive spurt. The All-American had an easy toe-poke after a great through ball by Hamika Amerg and a perfect cross by Lynn.
Freshman goalie Audrey Baldwin earned her fourth career shutout, making four saves.
The Fighting Owls are back in action on Thursday with a road match at Harcum.
