Baseball Evens Record With Saturday Sweep

HAMPTON, Va. - The Harford baseball team evened its record at 3-3 with a road Saturday doubleheader sweep over Thomas Nelson. The Fighting Owls earned 15-10 and 8-3 victories on the afternoon.

Freshman Jason Seitler improved to 2-0, going toe-to-toe with a 2010 Chicago Cubs 21st round draft pick. Sophomore Corey Taylor earned the win on the mound in game one.

The Fighting Owl bats exploded for a season-best 15 runs and 15 hits in the opener. In the previous four games, Harford scored just three runs on 14 hits.

Sophomore outfielder Alex Riley went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs. Freshman infielder Anthony Ortiz was 4-for-4 with three RBIs while classmate James Wilson collected three RBIs and two hits, including a double.

Taylor went four innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits while striking out five.

Seitler held Thomas Nelson to four hits in four innings, while just two of the three runs that he allowed were earned. He struck out three batters while walking three.

The Fighting Owls open the home portion of their schedule on Friday with a doubleheader against Camden County at 3 p.m.
