Vattuone Shines As Baseball Tops Quinsigamond

BEL AIR, Md. - Sophomore Dom Vattuone carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of a 10-0 victory for Harford over Quinsigamond on Wednesday. The righthander finished the day with one hit allowed in seven innings of work while striking out five.

Set down the first five batters in order and put together a string of 11-straight outs in the middle of the contest before a soft line drive dropped in right field to end the no-hit bid. After allowing the one-out hit, Vattuone struck out the final two batters of his final inning before Jason Seitler entered the game in the top of the eighth to close out the contest.

Offensively, Christian Wolfe went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the season, a solo shot to right field to lead off the fourth inning. The Fighting Owls plated four runs in the fourth to give Vattuone an eight-run lead.

Nine different Fighting Owls collected a hit in the win, including James Wilson's 2-for-3 effort. Anthony Ortiz picked up two RBIs and was one of three players with two stolen bases in the victory (Matt Logullo & Jonathan Castro).

Harford faces Roxbury at home in a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
