BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's tennis program claimed the Harford Invitational Tournament title over the weekend. It marked the first time in the 10-year history of the event that the Fighting Owls won the title.
Harford earned 19 points in the eight-team field, where teams are awarded one point per win. The Fighting Owls claimed four champions,
Felipe dos Santos at No. 1 singles,
Hunter McCawley at No. 2 singles,
Jason Wright at No. 3 singles and the combo of Wright and
Cory Litke at No. 2 doubles. Harford also had two others reach the finals, where Litke picked up second place at No. 4 singles and the dos Santos/McCawley pair earned a second place finsih at No. 1 doubles.
dos Santos' championship brings his singles record to a perfect 11-0, while Wright's pair of championships ups his records to 9-0 at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.
The Fighting Owls travel to Mercer on Thursday.
