BALTIMORE - The Harford tennis teams both lost matches to an NCAA Division I opponent in Coppin State on Wednesday. The men fell 7-0 and the women lost 4-3.
On the men's side, The Fighting Owls top doubles team was victorious, but playing with the NCAA Division I scoring system, Coppin won the final two doubles matches to earn the point for doubles. Sophomores
Felipe dos Santos and
Hunter McCawley combined to win 8-1 over the Eagles top duo.
In sinlges, dos Santos' No. 1 singles match came down to tiebreak, but a crucial double fault allowed Oleksiy Krylchuk to win 10-8.
On the women's side,
Jessica Bittorf and
Brandi Dean won their doubles match, but the Fighting Owls top two duos fell in close contests, 8-6.
Harford's No. 4-6 singles players were victorious, but the top three fell and Harford went on to lose, 4-3.
