Men's Basketball Surges To 3-0

BEL AIR, Md. -- After overcoming an early deficit, men's basketball used a late run to remain undefeated, cruising to an 82-71 win over Globe Tech Saturday afternoon.

In a game that tipped off two hours earlier than previously scheduled, Harford (3-0) predictably started off slow and fell behind early. Globe Tech (1-2) raced out to a 12-3 lead in the opening six minutes of the game. But the Fighting Owls crept their way back into the game and tied things up at half time. The two teams looked evenly matched for most of the second half but Harford went on a big run in closing minutes to secure the win.

The turning point of the game took place with just under seven minutes remaining in the game. In a six minute span, Harford outscored Globe Tech 23-11, building a 15-point lead and putting the game beyond reach. The run was fueled by six Globe Tech turnovers including two Harford steals.

The Fighting Owls were balanced as a team on the score sheet with five players scoring in double figures. Jon Warren and Exzavier Cooper each scored 18 to the lead the way. Warren was especially efficient, shooting 7-for-11 from the field while also racking up seven assists and six steals. Cooper had two assists and four steals to go along with seven rebounds.

Malachi Seney had a strong game in his first appearance at the APGFCU Arena in two seasons. Coming off the bench he scored 16 points, dished out four assists and had three steals in just 18 minutes of work.

Alie Kondeh provided a spark of the bench as well, scoring 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting. The energetic swingman brought the home crowd to their feet with a spectacular two-handed dunk to put an exclamation point on the Fighting Owls' big run.

Harford is back in action on Tuesday as they continue their home stand. They will square off with Brookdale in the latter half of a doubleheader. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM.
