OXFORD, Ga. - The Harford men's tennis team (4-1) improved to 3-0 on the spring trip with victories against Gadsen State, 8-1, Oxford of Emory, 6-3, and Spartanburg Methodist, 7-2.
The 23rd ranked Gadsden State men's tennis team met us at Oxford to start our matches for the weekend. This match started what turned out to be an unbelievable weekend of doubles matches. We swept the doubles in this match and every match for the entire weekend. All tennis matches start with 3 doubles matches and when you sweep them you start a match with a 3-0 lead and only need 2 of 6 singles matches to win the match.
But, the highlight of this match came at No. 3 singles where
Bobby Frantz earned a hard-fought victory. Frantz cruised in the first set but made a diving play in the second set where he landed on his chin. He finished the match, winning the second set 7-6, before it was discovered that he needed stitches in his chin. He was transported to a nearby hospital and returned in time for the next match against Oxford.
