BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford men's basketball team could do no wrong in the opening half of its fourth-straight victory on Monday. The Fighting Owls opened the game on a 14-2 run and cruised to an 89-63 win over Allegany at home.
All five starters scored in the early 14-2 spurt, forshadowing the first-half scoring blitz that was about to commence. The Fighting Owl Five shot 14-for-28 from the floor in the opening half and helped the squad take a 26-point lead numerous times en route to a 51-30 halftime lead. Harford started the game inside the arc and extended the lead with fine 3-point shooting, finishing the opening stanza 6-for-10 from behind the arc.
Cameron Smith shot 7-of-9, including a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc, to lead Harford in scoring with 18 points. Four of the five starters scored in double figures while the fifth netted eight points.
Malachi Seney had 17 points and a team-high eight boards and six assists while shooting 3-for-4 from long distance.Â
Exzavier Cooper added 13 points and seven boards while
Jon Warren chipped in with 10 points and six dimes.
Overall for the game, Harford shot 53 percent (35-for-66) from the floor and 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) from behind the arc. The Fighting Owls led by as many as 34 and never trailed to improve to 4-3 in the MD JUCO with its fourth-straight conference win.
The Fighting Owls travel to Howard on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
